About the Geospatial and Applied Prevention Science Lab

Health is socially determined and spatially structured.

The Geospatial and Applied Prevention Science lab is based in the Department of Epidemiology at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. We use spatial epidemiologic methods to develop and test environmental strategies that improve public health.

Our work is guided by the knowledge that small changes to the environment—including social, physical, policy, and economic environments—can shape the health of whole populations.

Because everybody is exposed to environments all the time.
