Global Health
All epidemiology is spatial, whether on our doorstep or around the world. We apply spatial epidemiologic methods to problems of global significance.
At the Geospatial and Applied Prevention Science lab, we develop and implement spatial epidemiologic methods using geographically referenced data from many sources to address a wide range of problems. For example, our team has led studies of retail outlets that sell tobacco or alcohol in Indonesia, Armenia, Australia, and around the United States. Across these varied settings we find similar patterns—that lower income and otherwise disadvantaged populations are exposed to environments that contribute to poorer health outcomes
